Electricity network operators in Britain have successfully reconnected 125,000 customers following the havoc wreaked by Storm Henk, which damaged power lines on Tuesday 2nd January.
However, as of 7am on Wednesday, around 10,000 homes remain without power, prompting thousands of technicians to work diligently to restore electricity swiftly and safely.
Ross Easton from the Energy Networks Association, representing the UK’s power network operators, explained that some regions experienced winds exceeding 80mph, leading to significant damage to power lines due to debris carried by the intense wind.
