Even engineers can work from home!

Households can access remote engineering assistance from UK Power Networks.

The Our View project is designed to give customers instant video support for issues with their power instead of calling someone out.

Advisors talk customers through safety checks, help identify issues and review video clips which customers can upload. If the problem can’t be fixed, an engineer is still dispatched.

Luca Grella, Head of Innovation at UK Power Networks, said: “This project marks a major step forward in how we support our customers.

“By using live video support, we can diagnose issues faster and often help customers to restore supply without sending an engineer, which means getting the lights back on as quickly and safely as possible.”

Since the launch of the platform, in person visits have reduced by around 30%. In 2025, more than 1,000 live video calls helped resolve issues.

The service also allows customers to share footage of their electrical setup ahead of planned work. UK Power Networks say that engineers can now arrive more prepared, with the right tools and knowledge to get the job done first time.
