Emerson launches Rosemount 9000 Series magnetic flow meter portfolio

Emerson has launched its Rosemount 9000 Series magnetic flow meter portfolio with advanced diagnostics, built-in meter verification and an enhanced sensor design aimed at improving measurement reliability and reducing downtime.

(P&GJ) — Emerson has launched its Rosemount 9000 Series Magnetic Flow Meter portfolio, introducing new diagnostic and verification capabilities designed to improve flow measurement reliability and simplify maintenance.

The portfolio launches with the Rosemount 9732 Magnetic Flow Transmitter and Rosemount 9205 Magnetic Flow Sensor for applications including oil and gas, refining, chemical processing, power, water and wastewater and other industrial sectors.

The new meters feature advanced diagnostics designed to identify coating buildup, electrical noise, empty pipe conditions and other potential measurement issues. The system includes coated electrode detection, tunable empty pipe detection, smart fluid diagnostics and five standard operational logs.

Built-in Smart Meter Verification allows users to check meter health and measurement performance without removing the sensor from service or interrupting operations. Standard verification provides pass/fail diagnostics and sensor health checks, while an advanced option provides additional electrode and coil health data with historical logging.

Emerson also redesigned the sensor to improve measurement stability and reduce power requirements by 50%. The company said improvements to the magnetics and sensor construction provide stronger signals and up to four times better out-of-the-box performance.

A universal power supply allows the meters to operate with either AC or DC power, providing additional flexibility for new installations and retrofit applications.

The Rosemount 9000 Series also supports configurable analog, digital and pulse outputs, along with user-defined scaling, alert mapping and fail-safe settings for integration with both legacy and newer control systems.

“Customers are looking for technologies that help them do more with fewer resources while maintaining confidence in their operations,” said Bob Halgren, vice president of products with Emerson’s measurement instrumentation business. “The Rosemount 9000 Series Magnetic Flowmeter delivers intelligent diagnostics, simplified operation and trusted measurement performance that help users improve reliability, reduce maintenance effort and make better decisions.”
