Applications for a £150 energy bill payment are set to open today, under the Warm Home Discount Scheme, which will be in effect throughout this winter.
This initiative is designed to provide support to individuals with low incomes who meet specific eligibility criteria.
The Department of Work and Pensions has clarified that the £150 payment will be directed to the recipient’s energy company, effectively reducing the cost of future energy bills.
This payment is intended for those who are in the greatest need.
Eligibility for the payment is contingent on the recipient’s receipt of specific benefits, which include:
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Savings Credit (part of Pension Credit)
