The Solar Power World editorial team is proud each year to present four Top Solar Champions awards, open to all those employed by Top Solar Contractor companies, highlight talent in the industry in different skill areas.
The 2023 Top Solar Changemaker award-winner is Riley Neugebauer, residential solar apprentice at Colorado-based Namaste Solar.

If you’re on solar LinkedIn, you’ve probably seen a post by Neugebauer talking about bringing more women into the industry. She shares stories from install sites, detailing challenges and triumphs and normalizing installers outside the status quo putting in solid work on rooftops.
Neugebauer’s commitment to expanding opportunities for women in the solar installation field has culminated in the creation of her group Solar for Women. It’s a space online and on Instagram for community-building and technical training for women interested in DIY solar projects and solar installation as a career path. She plans to launch the first courses in 2024, focusing on the basics of small-scale solar installation.
Through her work in the community, on social media and, most importantly, on the jobsite, Neugebauer is widening the net of career options for women in the trades.
