Amazon adds 39 renewable energy projects in Europe

Amazon has announced the addition of 39 new renewable energy projects in Europe this year, contributing over one gigawatt (GW) of clean energy capacity to the continent’s grids.

These projects are part of Amazon’s ambitious plan, which already encompasses more than 160 wind and solar initiatives across 13 European countries.

When all these projects become operational, they are anticipated to generate approximately 5.8GW of clean energy capacity, sufficient to power more than 4.7 million European households on an annual basis.

Among the new projects, 15 rooftop solar installations on Amazon facilities stand out, along with 24 utility-scale wind and solar projects, including Amazon’s inaugural solar farm in Greece.

Lindsay McQuade, Director of Energy, EMEA at Amazon, said: “Corporate investment is an important catalyst to help transition toward a clean energy future, and we look forward to continuing to work with governments, local communities and energy providers across Europe to deliver more renewable energy into local grids.”
