APsystems announced a new improvement to its DS3 microinverter line — extended connector “whips” designed to give installers more flexibility and reduce strain during module connections.
A common installation challenge occurs when module leads don’t quite reach the microinverter’s connectors with comfortable slack. When wiring is pulled too tight, connectors can be stressed or damaged during installation.
The updated DS3 design solves this issue by integrating longer built-in whips, providing extra reach and flexibility when connecting module leads. This added slack makes the installation process smoother, reduces the risk of overstressing connectors and helps ensure long-term reliability in the field.
While extremely short module wires or wider-than-usual spacing between panels may still require a separate DC extension cable, the new whip length significantly reduces the need for additional components in everyday installations.
