Ciel & Terre unveils honeycomb-shaped floating solar racking

Floating solar racking company Ciel & Terre has released Fusio, a new floating racking with a triangular design inspired by the principles of construction. These floating triangle structures are installed in a honeycomb pattern for added stability and weight distribution.

Compared to its flagship floating racking, Hydrelio, Fusio has a more compact design for simpler logistics and a shorter lead times, with the goal of being built at larger scales; it also has a smaller project footprint paired with higher panel elevation for more airflow. Ciel & Terre is working with CEA to develop a digital model for predicting solar panel gains related to airflow cooling.

With project maintenance in mind, Ciel & Terre also developed a special-engineered catamaran, a type of boat, that can sail between panel rows. While on the vessel, technicians can access modules, electrical equipment and project cabling.

Ciel & Terre launched Hydrelio in 2011, and since its introduction the racking has been installed in 1.4 GW of solar projects globally.
