A solar project, capable of supplying energy to around 18,500 homes, has received approval from the planning inspector at East Devon District Council.
The inspector concurred with the original recommendation from the council’s planning officers that the proposals should be granted approval, citing the overall benefits of the development outweighing the potential harms.
The Ford Oaks Solar and Green Infrastructure Facility, situated near Exeter, will not only contribute to the region’s climate goals but also enhance local biodiversity.
The project aims to achieve a 121% biodiversity net gain.
Simon Crowe, Director at Taiyo, said: “This approval will deliver a key solar and green infrastructure facility that will further the climate goals of East Devon and the wider region.”
