South Carolina-based solar panel assembler Hounen Solar announced it will open a second manufacturing location in the state. Joining the company’s existing 1-GW plant in Orangeburg, Hounen will establish a 3-GW facility in Summerville by the end of 2026.
Hounen has been making silicon solar panels in Orangeburg since 2024. The site in Summerville was previously occupied by a home furnishings manufacturer, so Hounen will just need to bring in panel assembly equipment.
“The facility will incorporate advanced automation and intelligent production systems to ensure the manufacturing of high-efficiency solar modules that meet the standards of the U.S. market,” Hounen stated on its website. “This strategic investment underscores Hounen’s long-term commitment to U.S. domestic manufacturing, technological innovation, and supply chain resilience, contributing to the nation’s transition toward a sustainable and secure clean energy future.”
