An agreement has been reached between Star Refrigeration Ltd and the Mersey Heat Energy Centre, advancing Liverpool‘s energy goals.
The £2.5 million deal involves installing a water source heat pump to aid heating decarbonisation efforts.
Led by Peel NRE’s Ener-Vate and constructed by Vital Energi, the Mersey Heat Energy Centre at Liverpool Waters aims to provide low carbon energy to many properties in the city.
Scheduled for completion by winter 2024, the project aligns with the government’s net zero emissions target.
Jo Longdon, Commercial Director, Ener-Vate, said: “The Energy Centre will enable buildings to easy connect via an existing pipeline network providing an overnight solution to the challenge of decarbonising our heat sources.”
David Pearson, Director, Star Refrigeration Ltd, said: “Our heat pumps are manufactured in the UK and are an efficient way to cut carbon dioxide emissions and lower the carbon footprint of connected buildings by around 75%, which will reduce further as the grid decarbonises.”
