Low Carbon connects 129 MW of solar to grid

Low Carbon has energised four large-scale solar projects in the UK, adding 129 MW of capacity to the grid.

The energised projects include Feldon Vale (49.9 MW) in Warwickshire, Pepperhill (21 MW) in Shropshire and two Essex sites: Long Meadow (19 MW) and Birch (39 MW).

The Birch site also includes a 30 MW battery energy storage system, helping balance supply and demand.

Together, these sites are expected to power around 39,000 homes annually and avoid 40,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The announcement comes during a period of strong solar output in the UK, with recent weather contributing to solar meeting nearly a third of the country’s electricity needs.

Low Carbon currently has over 1 GW of renewable capacity in operation or construction and plans to begin work on an additional 400 MW over the next 18 months.
