TotalEnergies has delivered its first shipment of 100% cooking oil-based marine fuel to Singapore.

The fuel, derived from used cooking oil, was supplied on 5th August 2024 to a Pure Car and Truck Carrier named Glovis Cosmos.

The company has previously supplied biofuel blended with conventional fuels but this is the first full biofuel delivery.

The use of cooking oil-based biofuel is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80% to 90% compared to traditional marine fuels.

Louise Tricoire, Senior Vice President Aviation and Marine Fuels at TotalEnergies said: “The operation reinforces our commitment to supporting the shipping industry’s decarbonisation ambitions.

“We will continue to innovate and find sustainable low carbon solutions for the shipping industry, which is navigating fast-changing market and regulatory conditions.”
