Octopus pays out £100m to customers in referral payments

Octopus Energy has launched a heat pump and solar referral programme to drive clean heating adoption and support net zero emissions.

Nearly £100 million in customer referral payments will be distributed directly to customers, the company said.

The new initiative offers £100 for referrals and discounts on installations.

This announcement coincides with a surge in demand for heat pumps, as revealed by government data indicating a 75% increase in applications for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in February compared to the corresponding period last year.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product Officer at Octopus Energy, said: “Our approach has always been to put money back into people’s pockets and we’ll happily give away another £100 million in referrals as savvy customers take advantage of our heat pump offer – and help speed up the clean heating revolution along the way.”
