Terabase Energy launches automated solar panel installation setup

Terafab “climate controlled” environment

Digital automation company Terabase Energy has officially launched Terafab, a “digital field factory” for solar panel installation on large-scale projects.
The Terafab system combines a digital twin of the project site, advanced supply chain and inventory management systems, an onsite wireless digital command center, a field-deployed automated assembly line and specialized installation rovers into one operation. Terabase claims that this installation optimization could increase installation productive two-times over traditional methods.
Fewer workers are needed to assemble sections of solar panels in a climate-controlled environment. Robotic arms would lift the panels while rovers place panels on tracking systems.
“ The Terafab system is a game-changer, offering a comprehensive solution that merges cutting-edge construction automation with a sophisticated digital system to transform the way solar power plants are constructed,” said Matt Campbell, CEO and co-founder of Terabase Energy. “We successfully field-tested Terafab last year, building 10 MW of a 400-MW site in Texas. Today’s launch is the next step forward to rapid commercial scale-up.”
Terabase Energy has relationships with Intersect Power, Signal Energy, Nextracker and First Solar, and the companies provided positive feedback about the Terafab system.
The Terafab system should be commercially deployed on several projects starting in Q3 2023.
