Flexitricity‘s virtual power plant has exceeded the capacity of the newest gas-fired station in the UK.
Flexitricity’s virtual power plant is designed to quickly deliver power capacity at scale from various flexible assets, contributing to the optimisation of existing renewable resources.
The growth of the virtual power plant portfolio has been gradual over the past 15 years, with a notable doubling in the last three years and further expectations of doubling in the coming years.
The virtual power plant is managed and monitored from a control room in Edinburgh, utilising advanced technology, including AI and machine learning.
Andy Lowe, Chief Executive Officer of Flexitricity, said: “Flexible energy asset portfolios and managed services must scale materially larger if the UK is to achieve a net zero energy system.”
