Wind farm project put on hold

Vattenfall has announced it will pause the development of the Swedish Kriegers Flak offshore wind project.

The decision is due to current investment conditions in Sweden not being feasible.

Swedish Kriegers Flak, located about 30 kilometres south of Trelleborg, was intended to be Sweden’s leading offshore wind farm, producing 2.7TWh of electricity annually.

The project was initially scheduled to start production in 2028, but this timeline is no longer achievable, according to the company.

Vattenfall has stated that the project could resume if investment conditions improve and permits remain valid.

A key factor for the project is securing a reasonable connection to the national grid.

The company is still advancing other offshore wind projects in Sweden, aiming to produce 18TWh of renewable electricity annually by 2035.
