EV infrastructure could start catching up to demand, following £150 million investment

FID has been reached on a £150 million funding round for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of over 3,000 charge points. These will facilitate over 100,000 kWs of capacity across the UK and Ireland, helping to facilitate the monthly surge in EV sales.

The company, EZO, is aiming to build the base for reliable charging on a large scale. Alongside this, the development is expected to promote economic development and support significant employment across Scotland, England and Wales.

EZO CEO, Ollie Chatten said: “Our focus is on working with strong public and private sector partners to build charging networks at scale across Ireland and the UK. The backing of our investment partners gives us the financial strength to deliver on those commitments, continue investing in our people and technology, and pursue the next generation of opportunities in the EV infrastructure market.”

Electric vehicle uptake is continuing to rise across the UK, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounting for 29.8% of new car registrations in August.

The growth has continued across 2026, with 28.6% more than during the same period last year. The latest government figures also show that the UK had 121,171 public EV chargers as of 1 July. This investment with bring that figure up and support EV drivers in making their car a more sustainable choice for long term use.
