Hinkley Point C, the new nuclear power station in Somerset, has outlined plans to establish over 800 acres of saltmarsh along the River Parrett near Bridgwater.
The proposed saltmarsh at Pawlett Hams is part of an initiative to enhance the Severn estuary’s wildlife and environment.
The plans, developed in collaboration with Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency, aim to create habitat for fish and animals, improve local water quality and mitigate flooding.
This approach is presented as an alternative to an initially proposed acoustic fish deterrent.
The public consultation for these plans is set to commence on 9th January, providing an opportunity for public input on the proposed habitat creation and other design changes, such as alterations to spent fuel storage methods at Hinkley Point C.
