A fleet of hydrogen-powered taxis is revolutionising transport in Paris, helping to improve air quality while advancing sustainable mobility.
As part of the Hydrogen Fuel for Paris project, up to eight hydrogen refuelling stations will be set up across the city.
These stations deliver hydrogen at 350 or 700 bar pressure, supporting both small vehicles and larger buses.
Hydrogen-fuelled cars emit only water, making them cleaner and quieter than petrol counterparts. They also match the driving range and refuelling times of traditional taxis.
The 2024 Summer Olympics showcased the potential of this technology, with hydrogen refuelling stations supporting taxis and other vehicles throughout the event.
The project aims for at least 5% of Paris’s taxi fleet to be zero-emission, equivalent to 2,500 hydrogen-powered vehicles.
It is funded by €6.74m (£5.5m) from the EU’s CEF Transport programme.
