bp pulse, in collaboration with UK Power Networks Services, has activated eight ultra-fast 150kW chargers at the Pimlico electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in central London.
Situated at Q-Park on Cumberland Street, Pimlico, these charging points have the capacity to simultaneously accommodate 16 vehicles.
UK Power Networks Services developed and executed a comprehensive plan to install and connect the new charging points within an underground car park near Victoria Station.
This involved the construction of a substation, laying approximately 660 metres of new cabling, and providing a 1.5-megawatt electricity supply to the chargers.
The installation of the chargers in an underground car park posed unique challenges, necessitating innovative lifting techniques to manoeuvre them into spaces with limited headroom, all while ensuring the safety of existing utility and ventilation systems.
Furthermore, UK Power Networks Services supplied the essential hardware and software support for EV charging, enabling bp pulse to optimise their EV infrastructure and conduct fleet analysis.
